Tri-Valley Regional Occupational Program Diane Centoni, Superintendent TITLE: SENIOR ACCOUNTANT POSITION TO BEGIN: Mid April WORK SCHEDULE: 8 hours per day - 12 months LOCATION: Tri-Valley ROP Administration Office PERSON SELECTED WILL BE AN EMPLOYEE OF THE TRI-VALLEY ROP SUPERVISED BY: Superintendent, Tri-Valley ROP DATE POSTED: February 26, 2008 Basic Function and Responsibilities: Perform professional accounting activities related to the preparation, maintenance and review of financial records, accounts and reports for the ROP; analyze and audit accounts. Under the supervision of the Director of Business and Technology, is responsible for budget preparation and reporting as required by regulatory agencies, including the budget, interim reports and unaudited actuals using the SACS software. Examples of Duties: Perform professional account work, working closely with other personnel in accordance with prescribed accounting procedures and generally accepted principles of accounting. Prepare a variety of comprehensive financial statements and documents; prepare and maintain financial claims, records and reports for various accounting areas; maintain efficient and effective record-keeping systems and audit trails. Respond to questions and resolve difficult issues. Analyze financial accounting data and make appropriate recommendations. Provide budget monitoring to assure expenditures are properly classified and do not exceed appropriations. Analyze data and prepare projections, financial statements and reports related to ROP financial position. Answer questions and provide information and assistance to staff regarding budgets, accounts and related information; provide technical expertise and direction regarding accounting issues. Assist in the development and implementation of new or revised procedures and forms to assure efficiency and compliance with ROP policies and applicable governmental regulations. Coordinate with ROP’s independent auditors, providing financial records, reports and transactions. Responsible for accounts payable, accounts receivable, and purchasing. Performs all related duties as assigned. Knowledge and Abilities: Knowledge of: Accounting and auditing principles, practices and procedures Preparation of financial statements and comprehensive accounting reports Financial analysis and projection techniques Accounts payable, accounts receivable, and purchasing Budget preparation and maintenance School accounting systems – Tri-Valley ROP uses the QSS system Ability to: Maintain and reconcile a variety of financial records, accounts grants and funds Analyze and resolve complex financial problems Prepare accurate financial statements Work independently with little or no direction Analyze situations accurately and adopt an effective course of action Communicate effectively both orally and in writing Read, interpret, apply and explain rules, regulations, policies and procedures Education and Experience: A minimum of two years college level course work in accounting with five years professional accounting experience; of which two years is recent. Must Have: Proof of Freedom from Tuberculosis.
